On 30th May 2010 (Sunday) at 6.30 PM. J.Archanha performed a very good dance performance. She is very agile and quick footed. Her limb movement is good. Guru Chitra Subramani has trained her very well.

She did the lengthy varnam a composition of the great Subbudu Anname in ragam valachi very well. She answered the various jathis neatly. The sanchari bhava she enacted very well. Gopalakrishna Bharathiars Chinnan chiru kiliye was very good. Guru's choreography in this padam was good.

Vocal by Sashidharan, Mridangam by Thanjai A. Natarajan and Violin by Kandadevi S. Vijayaraghavan have supported the dancer very well.

Bharathanatyam dancer Smt. Sujatha Parameswaran, chief guest of the programme blessed the dancer Archanha.

On 29th May 2010 (Saturday) at 6.30 PM. That was an excellent dance performance by Harini Venkataraman. This is her second performance for VDS and we are able to see all-round improvement in her performance-especially in bhava. Her limb movements are fine and perfect. Lalgudi Jayaraman, s neelambari Varnam was good. Her jathis were neat and perfect. Padams were performed very well. Ambujam Krishna's Chinna chinna padam was super.

Guru Pandanallur S. Pandian has trained Harini very well.

Roshini Ganesh on vocal, mridangam by Nagai Narayanan, Veeramani on violin and P.V. Raman on flute have rendered their fine support.

Ganamukundapriya Mr. Gopala Krishnan, chief guest of the evening blessed the dancer.

On 28th May 2010 (Friday) at 6.30 PM. Vidya Dinakaran performed a very good dance performance. She has all the features for a dancer. Slim, agile, quick-footed and presentation. Guru Anusha Narendrakumar has trained her very well.

Shabdham was fine. She did the varnam in ragam karaharapriya well; she answered the fast jathis neatly. She did the thillana nicely.

Both vocal and instrumental was fine. Vocal duo by Girish Menon, Sudhaman (Mridangam) and Devaraj (Flute) have supported the dancer very well.


Bharathanatyam Exponent Smt. Madhuvanthi Arun, chief guest of the programme blessed Vidya.

On 23rd May 2010 (Sunday) at 6.00 PM. We wish M.G. Harish for a very good vocal concert at VDS. He has a bold voice.  He sings the kritis very well. He has been very well trained by his guru Shyamala.
                                                               
He sang the main Hari Kamboji very well. We are happy he did niraval and kalpanaswaram for kriti ehnaithodi. Sri Parthasarathy in Suddha dhanyasi was good. The selections of the songs were good and had variety. Aarabhi kriti was fine. Kalyanavasantham song was also very good.                                          

V.B. Bhavana (Violin) and Venimadhavan (mridangam) gave good support to the Harish.

On 22nd May 2010 (Saturday) at 6.00 PM. C. Vignesh performed an excellent vocal concert for VDS. This is his maiden concert at VDS. His voice is fine, bold and clear. Rendering the kritis very well with fine gamakas and brigas. His patantharam is very good. Guru Delhi V. Muthukumar has trained him very well.

We are happy to note he did niraval and kalpanaswarams in the sub-main Dharmavathi and in main Kamboji for Bhajanaseyaradha and Majanaki respectively. Alapana and muthaippu swarams were good to listen in the main. At 15 his over all knowledge and confidence is good.

S. Anupama (Violin) and P.V. Srivathsa gave a good support to Vignesh

At 7.15 PM. Adithya Mohan a child prodigy is learning music under the tutelage of Sethumadhavan and G. Ravikiran. Our regular artist and performing for the 5th time at VDS. His over all knowledge and manodharma is really fine at 18. Kalpanaswaram knowledge is fantastic.

His sub-main Bandhuvarali alapana was fine. Niraval and kalpanaswaram had variety for kriti Aparamabhakthi. He had some nice pidis in the mohanam alapana, niraval and kalpanaswarams were fine for kriti Kapali. His thukkadas were beauty to listen.

Chitoor Vijayaraghavan (violin), V. Shreyash (mridangam) gave their fine support.

On 21st May 2010 (Friday) at 6.00 PM. S. Shyam Prasad presented a fine and very good vocal performance for VDS. His voice is fine, bold and clear. Patantharam is also very good and has been well trained by his guru Lakshmi Krishnasami. Selections of the kritis were fine.

His main Kamboji alapana was very good and has some good pidis. Kalpanaswaram also very good for kriti Maragathavallim. He sang all the kritis with ragalakshana. Sahana alapana was short & good. He sang the kriti eivasudha very nicely with well knit kalpanaswarams.

M.K. Ananthalakshmi (Violin) and S.Guru Aravind (Mridangam) gave a very good support to Shyam Prasad.

At 7.15 PM. Raksha Mahalingam, a dis. of Guru Padma Sandilyan is showing more interest in carnatic music. She is our regular artist and singing at VDS for 6th occasion. Now she has improved a lot. Her patantharam is very good. Over all knowledge and confidence is also very good. Rendering the kritis with ragalakshana with her fine, clear and versatile voice. Selections of the songs for the concert were fine and also rare kritis.

She rendered a neat and crisp alapana for Anandhanatamaduvar in ragam Poorvi kalyani. We have listened a detailed alapana in karaharapriya and it has good standard. Niraval and swaram kalpana was fine and had variety for kriti Ramaneeyada. She sang all the thukkadas beautifully and melodiously and she proved worthy of her promotion to seniour slot concert by presenting a fine and very good vocal.

R. Priyamvadha (Violin) and V. Gowrishankar (mridangam) have rendered very good support to Raksha.

On 16th May 2010 (Sunday) at 6.30 PM. R.Sai Smruthi performed a fine & very good dance performance. She performed second time for VDS. She has shown a lot of improvement in bhava. Her foot-work is elegant. Her abhinaya and sanchari bhava was fine in Lalgudi’s Shanmugapriya varnam depict vamana avatara of Lord Vishnu. Both music and dance was fine in Idadhupadam and Asaindhadum mayil. Her foot-work was brisk in mannupughaz and in hindolam thillana
                                                   
Guru Samyktha Varadarajan has trained Sai Smruthi very well.

Vocal duo by Ashoknagar Sisters Malini Kumar & Premlatha, Vasudevan (Mridangam), J. Shankar (Violin) and Omkarnath (Keyboard) have supported the dancer very well. Our congratulations to the new Nattuvangam artist Aparajitha Kumar for having done a fine job to-day.

Bharathanatyam dancer Yuvakala Bharathi Archana Narayanmurthi, chief guest of the programme blessed Sai Smruthi.

On 15th May 2010 (Saturday) at 6.30 PM. That was an excellent dance performance by R.Pavithra Madhuram. This is her second performance for VDS. She is improved a lot in bhava. Her foot-work & limb movements are good. She is agile and brisk is action. She has been well trained by her mother-cum-guru Mutharasi Ravi. It is evident she has given her strict training.

She did the lengthy Papanasam Sivan’s dhanyasi varnam well and answered the jathis neatly. Her Saravanabava, Chinnanchiru kiliye, Nindrandha mayil, Konjum sadhangai padams were very attractive. Both music and dance was fine for Chinnanchirukiliye. Her brisk foot-work in the thillana was graceful.

V. Venugopal on vocal, mridangam by G. Ganesh and Sikkil Balasubramanian on violin have rendered their fine support to Pavithra.

Dance exponent Kalaimamani Mrs. Uma Anand, chief guest of the evening blessed the dancer.

On 14th May 2010 (Friday) at 6.30 PM. P. R. Jaishree performed a very good dance performance. This is her second performance for VDS. We could see improvement in her bhava. Her foot-work is good. She has been well trained by her guru Samyutha Varadarajan.

Shabdham was fine & different. There was more scope for bhava than usual ones. She did it very well. She answered the jathis of the varnam (simhavahini) neatly. Her bhava was good in Adhuvum Soluval padam.

Music was supportive to the dancer. Vocal duo by Malini Kumar & Premlatha, Nagai S. Narayanan (Mridangam), K.R Suresh (Violin) and Omkarnath (Keyboard). Nattuvangam by Dhivya Sampath was good. She did it neatly and boldly.

On 09th May 2010 (Sunday) at 6.00 PM. Deeptha Vasudevan and Shwetha Vasudevan has performed their yet another excellent vocal performance for VDS. This is their 3rd concert at VDS. They are under the tutelage of gurus Sulochana Pattabhiraman (past) and P. Vasanthkumar & Prema Hariharan (present). Their voice is sweet, fine and clear especially in the higher octave. Both of their voice is aligning in to a single voice is rare. .

Shwetha’s Sarasvathi alapana was short and neat for kriti Saraswathi. Kalpanaswaram also sung very well. Their niraval in Veludutha in ragam suba panthuvarali was good. Deeptha took bhairavi as the main item for the concert. Alapana was in detail. Kalpanaswaram for kriti Bhavathi has sung nicely. The lone thukkada Kandanaal mudalal in madhuvanthi was sung with ragalakshana.

Shraddha.R (Violin) and V. Shreyas (mridangam) gave a very good support to the twin sisters.

Dr. (Mrs.) P. Uma Maheswari a carnatic musician, Principal of TN Govt. Music College, Thiruvaiyaru, chief guest of the programme has blessed the children.

At 7.15 PM. This is 5th consecutive excellent vocal by G. Abilash for VDS. He is our regular artist. He entered at VDS in 2004 when he was just a 9 year old child prodigy. It proves now he has grown along with VDS for the past 6 years. His voice is matured now. He has improved in all departments. His manodharma is fine. Voice is flowing easily towards all the octaves for madulations and sangathis. He has all the features to become a senior artist. Gurus Rajeswari (previous) and A.S. Murali (present) have trained this youngster very well.

Selections of the kritis were fine, rare and from leading composers. To-day he presented a thematic concert and dedicated to lord muruga. Deekshidar’s Swaminathanai (Nattai), Papanasam Sivan’s Maal Maruga (vasantha), Neelakanda Sivan’s Oraaru mugane (reedhi gowla). His sub-main Harikamboji alapana has some nice pidis and kalpanaswaram had variety for Tanjore Sankara Iyer’s kriti Muruga Thirumal. He presented a RTP in ragam Shanmugapriya for pallavi shanmuga dhivamaniye, a difficult thala pattern Thisra thirubuda in ganada gathi nicely.

K.J. Dileep, Thalaignairu S. Harishkumar and V. Saisubramanian have rendered their fine support to Abilash like senior and graded artists.

On 08th May 2010 (Saturday) at 6.00 PM. R. Sai Priya has performed a fine and very good vocal performance for VDS. This is her 4th concert at VDS. Her voice is good, fine and clear. Rendering the kritis well. Her patantharam is very good guru Sakunthala Seshadri has trained her very well.

Her sub-main Annapoorne in ragam sama has sung very well. She rendered the alapana, kriti and swarm very well. Main Sri Ranjani was also very good. Ragam and swaram was good for kriti suga suga mridanga thalamu.

V. B. Bhavana (Violin) and S. Panchanadeeswaran gave a good support to Sai Priya.

At 7.15 PM. S. Shruthi and K. Prashanthi were singing together in one voice is really good to listen. Their voice is fine & clear. Singing the kritis with ragalakshana. Our regular artists and this is their first promotional concert to one and half hour sr. slot. They proved worthy of their promotion by giving a fine and very good vocal-duet. They are under the tutelage of Guru Rajalakshmi Srinivasan.

Karur Devudu Iyer’s Sri Raga varnam was best opening of the programme. Shruthi’s poorvikalyani both alapana and swarams were sung well but like tutored. Kriti Paripoorna kama was sung by the duo very nicely. Prashanth’s Bhairavi (main) alapana was fine. Niraval was very good for kriti Arunachala Kavirayar’s yaro ivar yaro. Kalpanaswarams had variety and detailed and looks like tutored. The lone thukkada Harinarayana was sung beautifully.

Sriram Sridhar’s (violin) lalgudi style of Poorvikalyani and Bhairavi was fine; V. Vignesh (mridangam) and S. Srisainath (gatam) have rendered their fine support.

On 07th May 2010 (Friday) at 6.00 PM. R. Varushini has performed a fine and very good vocal performance for VDS. Her voice is fine, soft and clear especially in the higher octave. She is singing all the kritis with ragalakshana. Selections of the songs were different compositions and composers. Her patantharam is very good Guru Padma Sandilyan has trained her very well.

Her sub-main Poorvi kalyani alpana was good for kriti Swati Tirunal’s Deve Deva jagadeeswara. Kalpanaswaram was also good. Main Karaharapriya has sung by her very well. Alapana was fine and had some good pidis. Niraval and swaram was also very good for kriti Saint Thiyagarajar’s samana mevaru. She sang the thukkadas melodiously.

V. Supraja (Violin) and K.R. Narayen gave a very good support to Varushini.

At 7.15 PM. V. Vathsala, a dis. of O.S. Thiyagarajan has performed an excellent vocal concert for VDS. Her sangeetha gnanam was really super at 14. Over all knowledge, confidence and paatantharam every thing is fine. She is singing with open voice through-out. Her gamakas, brigas with bold and clear voice is also good. Selections of the songs for the concert were fine and also rare kritis.

We found both in the Brindavana Saranga alapana and Simhendra madhymam alapana, her voice is flowing all the 3 octaves flawlessly. Niraval and kalpanaswarams were fine and had variety for the kritis Swaminathane samrakshithoham and Ninne nammithi nayya. She has also proved her laya gnanam by putting Thisra Thrubuda thalam on one hand and Misra chappu thalam on the other hand. This is a difficult pattern for children and she proved her best laya knowledge.

K.J. Dileep’s (Violin) MSG style and Srivanchiam R. Sriram’s (mridangam) poongulam style and both of them rendered their fine support as graded artists.

On 02nd May 2010 (Sunday) at 6.30 PM. S.Sanmathi performed a very good dance performance. She performed a traditional Dhyana moolam, Kambheera natai pushpanjali, Vazhuvoor Pitchaiyapillai’s gowthuvam, Swati thirunal’s Sankaragiri sree and K.N.D.Pillai’s jatheeswaram very well, rather simplified. Guru Parvathi Balasubramanian has trained her very well.

Her Sanchari bhava was fine in Paal vadiyum mugam (Naatakurunji) padam. Balamurali’s Desh thillana also good.

Both guru Parvathi and Krithika Premkumar on vocal, mridangam by V. Suresh, Belthasar on flute and clarinet and B. Ramakrishnan on violin have made their good support to Sanmathi.

Bharathanatyam dancer Mrs. Bala Thirubura Sundari, chief guest of the programme blessed the dancer.

On 01st May 2010 (Saturday) at 6.30 PM. B. Srividhya performed a very good Bharathanatyam for VDS. She is lean, tall and has fine foot-work. Confidence also good at 13. This is a full programme and she has been well trained by her guru Sudha Vijayakumar.

Madurai R.Muralidaran,s Simhavahini (Ranjani) varnam was the best piece to-day. She did the difficult jathis neatly. Her abhinaya was fine. Limb movements and mudras were fine to witness. She performed a padam on lord muruga well. Both music and dance was fine in Thulsidas bhajan was super. Both the costumes were fine and suited the dancer.

V. Venugopal on vocal, mridangam by G. Ganesh and M.S. Kannan on violin have rendered a very good support to Srividhya.
